Awesome
The thing I liked most about this book was the dialogue. I had never heard many of terms used by the British seamen and I enjoyed learning about the way they talked. Sippers, gulpers, you'll have to read the book to find out what they are.
Incredibly well written historic action novel. The author is a master of naval tactics and ww2 equipment. He paints the scene so well you d swear he was a veteran of the battles he describes. I plan on reading the whole series. ST. Dallas TX
This is a fast paced action packed storyline of British special ops navy and marine units operating mostly off the Norwegian coast. If you like sea stories this one is for you.
the writer is trying to follow to many characters and not developing a coherent or enjoyable story. Yes! It has its moment, but they are far and few between.
ON THE EDGE OF DARKNESS - IT'S OKAY!
I actually enjoyed this book. Good descriptions of war at sea... feels a bit contrived in some places, but it's not too bad.
The one drawback for me is the cover illustration. It looks like a pulp novel cover and it almost turned me off from even reading
the book in the first place. This is far from the level of Tom Clancy, but it's not terrible.
I am not normally a fun of this kind of military fiction, but the title caught my eye, and boy am I glad it did.
It reads true and it reads right. You can almost feel right there with them in the front lines.
There is a lot of sea jargon I am not familiar with and that is entirely my fault. It is still a very good book. If you enjoy military fiction (Dirty Dozen kind of stuff, pardon the comparison) you'll enjoy this very much.
